Guy Swan is an artist, composer, and performer based in his hometown of nipaluna/Hobart, Australia. He produces engaging ambient and experimental works that explore themes of subconsciousness and the human condition.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical genres including classical, jazz, punk rock, and metal, Guy utilises both acoustic and electronic instruments, field recordings, and innovative tape machine techniques to craft expansive soundscapes. He is continually seeking new textures to incorporate into his compositions and experiments with creating DIY equipment such as hydrophones and effects pedals to achieve unique and distinctive sounds. Since releasing his debut EP, Diffusion, in 2020, he has been delving into ambisonics and spatial audio technologies, with plans to integrate these elements into future projects.

As a collaborator, Guy was involved in the mixed media installation Oscillations, which received the People’s Choice Award at the University of Tasmania’s 2024 Creative Lab showcase. He has also created sound installations for group exhibitions in the Plimsoll and Sunroom Galleries and has performed and recorded with various ensembles both in Australia and in Los Angeles. Additionally, Guy works with visual media, often combining elements of photography, video, and light. His diverse portfolio includes live performances, audio-visual installations and sound design and composition for theatre.
